Child Protection Policy

The club recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of its young members and shall endeavour to provide the highest possible standard of care, in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Football Association to whom it is affiliated.The club shall provide a safe environment in which to train and play football by ensuring:

That all Managers and relevant Club Officials are in possession of a Certificate of Child Protection. This confirms that they have undergone the relevant Police and Social Services checks.

Certificates shall be arrived at all training sessions/matches and parents may ask to inspect them at any time, as may the Football Association.

That the activities in which players are involved are appropriate for their age, experience and ability. Managers are expected to place well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations e.g. performance.

That all equipment complies with the necessary standards.

That children are supervised at all times and are not allowed to leave at the end of a training session or match unless accompanied by a known parent/carer.

That all Managers have undergone First Aid training and that fully equipped First Aid kits shall be available at all times. Wherever possible, players shall be treated for injuries in the presence and with the permission of a parent/carer.

That children are always required to wear protective shin pads when playing football and that they are adequately clothed for the weather conditions. Sunscreen should be worn on hot days and extra drinks provided from home.

That Managers and Club Officials are discouraged from being alone and unobserved with any child, particularly in his/her car or home and without the knowledge or consent of the child’s parent/carer.

That Managers and Club Officials fulfil their duty to report to the appropriate authorities any concerns or suspicions that they might about the possible abuse of a child at home or in some other setting. The abuse may be physical, sexual or emotional. It may take form of neglect or bullying.

That there are designated Child Protection Officers. These be the Club Secreatry &and Club Welfare Officer whose contact details are provided through The Club’s membership pack, handbook or club website. Any concerns that parents have about the conduct of a Manager or other person connected with The Club in relation to a particular child or children must be reported to either of the designated officers without delay.

Allegations of a serious nature shall be referred immediately to the appropriate authorities and the person(s) concerned shall be prevented from having any further involvement with The Club whilst the matter is being investigated.

That in all cases of suspected abuse, information is properly recorded and treated with the utmost confidentiality by as few people at The Club who it is necessary to involve.

That complaints or allegations of a less serious nature are considered by The Committee within a reasonable timescale and that appropriate action is taken.
